The United States has warned Indian nationals that overstaying their visa could result in immediate deportation and a long-term travel ban. The US Embassy in India shared the warning on X (formerly Twitter), urging travelers to strictly follow visa rules.
According to the embassy, staying in the US beyond the allowed period is a serious offense. It may not only lead to removal but could also ban the individual from entering the country in the future. The warning comes amid tighter immigration policies under President Donald Trump’s second term.
President Trump has already announced plans to deport millions of undocumented migrants. His administration is also reviewing visa issuance policies for several countries, including Pakistan. Officials hinted that nations failing to fix visa-related issues might face restrictions.
A partial visa ban is also under consideration for countries that do not meet US standards. While not yet finalized, this could impact travel from regions like the Middle East and South Asia. A senior US official confirmed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio must still approve the list.
This move is part of a broader crackdown on illegal immigration. The administration has emphasized national security and plans more strict controls in the coming months.
