ISLAMABAD – The Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Secretariat has officially launched its first-ever Campus Ambassador Programme to promote a transparent tax culture by engaging students from universities across Pakistan.
Through a competitive nationwide selection process, 39 outstanding students from 32 universities were chosen from nearly 2,000 applicants. These ambassadors will serve as key links between academic institutions and public service, helping raise awareness about tax rights and responsibilities.
The programme kicked off with an orientation session at the FTO Secretariat in Islamabad. Almas Ali Jovindah, Advisor (Legal) and Executive Secretary of the Forum of Pakistan Ombudsman, addressed the students. He stressed the crucial role of youth in promoting institutional transparency and societal development.
In the first phase, ambassadors will educate their fellow students about the Ombudsman’s role in resolving public grievances. Later, they will focus on spreading knowledge specifically about the Federal Tax Ombudsman’s mandate and how citizens can benefit from it.
This initiative builds on earlier internship and youth engagement projects launched by Jovindah, aimed at attracting top talent from Pakistan’s higher education institutions. He emphasized leadership, civic responsibility, and trust-building as the programme’s guiding principles.
The FTO Secretariat sees the Campus Ambassador Programme as a vital tool for encouraging accountability, boosting tax compliance, and fostering informed citizenship. It is a joint effort by the Federal Tax Ombudsman and the Forum of Pakistan Ombudsman, aiming to bring lasting change through youth-driven outreach.
